I know I've not been updating this blog for, like, a gazillion years. Been really busy with work. So here's a quick pic-filled update on the happenings for the past 6 months:
Went to Koh Samui in last November. Stayed at the Kirikayan Resort's penthouse ~ a super large suite with a living room, dining area, kitchen, bedroom and an upper level with sun chairs and a private jacuzzi.
Explored Samui in a rented car and enjoyed some really delicious thai seafood.
2) KK
Made a trip to KK in December for a friend's wedding. Had a great time with a group of friends. We had massages, good seafood and went to one of the islands to laze at the beach and soak up some rays.
3) Our 4th Anniversary
Celebrated our 4th anniversary with dinner at Il Lido. It was one of the best dinners I've ever had. The wine was so good, we finished the entire bottle between the 2 of us.
4) LayanMei's CNY Open House
LayanMei moved to a new house and invited all of us to her CNY open house.
5) Alison's Wedding
Attended Alison's wedding at the Gardens Hotel and afterparty at G-Six.
6) Joanne's Wedding
Joanne's wedding was a day after Alison's. It was held at the Concorde Shah Alam.
7) Valentine's Dinner
We made it a point not to celebrate Valentine's Day on Valentine's Day itself coz everything and everywhere will cost an arm and a leg. This occasion is now so commercialized we refused to be voluntarily slaughtered by going out for dinner on that day itself. We went a week later to Fukuya. We did not make a reservation and had to sit at the sushi bar. The food was fantastic. Really need to remember to book a table the next time we go to enjoy the entire experience better.
8) Singapore
Finally, we managed to schedule a trip down to Singapore together! We went a day earlier as I've not really seen and experienced Singapore though I'm there every month. Discovered a nice place to eat, checked out MBS ~ at long last & squeezed in a haircut at Shunji Matsuo.
9) Mom's Birthday
My schedule was super hectic in April. A lot of travelling. But managed to schedule my travels around to ensure I was in town during Mom's birthday to celebrate with her.
10) Seoul
Went to Seoul a couple of days after Mom's birthday for a Regional Marketing meeting. Had drama during departure. The plane's landing gear was stuck, so after about half an hour on air, we hadta detour back to KLIA to fix it. We were put up at the Marriott Putrajya for the night. But had to go through so much hassle and stress just to collect our luggage and get into a van to get there.
Firstly, MAS ground staff's services absolutely suck! No communication to passengers and amongst themselves. We were not told what was going on till after an hour's wait. We were then told to collect our bags and hop into a van, which would bring us to a hotel. But when we went to baggage collection, we encountered an extremely rude staff who told us to wait an hour for our bags. Then, we were not told the specific area to wait for transport. And finally, when the vans came, everybody forgot their courtesy to queue up and just scrambled into the vans. Just my luck that the driver of my van did not know the directions to the hotel and got lost. The last straw was, nobody told us what time was pick up the following day back to the airport. Nice, huh? MAS, with its new ad campaign, should really iron out their ground ops before even launching any new campaigns.
Anyway, managed to get into the plane and go to Seoul half a day late. Stayed at the Grand Intercontinental Hotel. Very nice hotel. Love the lobby and the spacious room.
The Korea office is new and very nice. Like heaven compared to mine in KL. Our Korean colleagues were very hospitable. Took us for an authentic Korean dinner on the first night and to popular shopping spot, Myeong-dong, the 2nd night. 3rd night was free and easy, so I went exploring at Dong Dae Mun.
11) My Birthday
My birthday came and went too quickly. Wish the day will stall and I get to enjoy being special on my special day longer. Cut the cake with family before being whisked off to dinner by Yaacob.Drinks at The Hill after that...
Free entertainment of the night. No, I did not hire her. She was a patron who decided to dress like this and climb up to the bar countertop to dance.Thank you all who came on such short notice. Really appreciate it!
The person who made it all happen. My love... Thank you sooo much for always going the extra mile for me!!!Dinner with family the next day at Mum's Place, Damansara Perdana.
Look what came in the mail!
All the way from Down Under. Thanks, Jebb!!
Pressies from family, friends and boss. Thank you all!!
My pristine white BB! Pressie from Yaacob. Loving it sooo much. Thanks, honey!!
12) Smoothies Launch
Been planning this for weeks. So glad the entire event went so smoothly. The turn-up was great. All thanks to a great team who worked hard together to make this happen.
Haagen-Dazs Ice Cream Smoothies ~ Try it if you haven't. So yummy and luscious. It's a limited edition summer range, available in 2 flavors: Mango & Apricot and Raspberr & Summer Berries.
13) Company Retreat @ Resorts World Sentosa
The entire company took a Friday off for the 2-day company retreat at Resorts World Sentosa.I was on one of the earlier flights and got there really early. So, I went exploring and discovered the mother of all candy shops...
After lunch, we had a team building activity. We were required to build a roller coaster from materials given from the organizer ~ straws, newspaper, scissors, rubber bands, 2 mini rolls of cellophane tape and balloon holders. We could also use anything in the room to help build a roller coaster that was to have a hump in the middle and able to withstand a tennis ball rolling through it.
Proud to announce my group's roller coaster was the prettiest one and it worked! Tennis ball rolled all the way till the end without a hitch.
We stayed at Hard Rock Hotel. Very fancy hotel with rock n roll interior.
The theme for the company dinner was retro rock. I decided to go as Twiggy, though not sure if I really succeeded coz everyone kept referring to me as the Agogo Girl. Hmmph! Won best dressed prize though I think there are others who are more deserving of the title and prize. Some really went all out to buy/rent costumes and wigs. Me? I just threw everything together from my closet the night before my trip.
Spent the following day in Universal Studios Singapore before catching a night flight home. It was not so different from the one in Gold Coast. The Shrek 4D movie was exactly the same. I was very proud of myself for having the guts to go for 1 ride. Nope, not the insane roller coaster. I went for the Mummy Returns ride. Quite scary coz it had some dips along the way. I screamed the moment we moved. Shirley who was sitting next to me laughed all the way. That's her reaction to fear, it seems.
It was a fun trip and I got to know my Singaporean colleagues a little better. Was dead tired by the time I got back.
That's all for now. Hopefully will have time to blog more *fingers crossed*
