Yummy 'Tong Yuen'

Each year, Mom would buy the ingredients for us to make our own 'Tong Yuen' during the Winter Solstice celebration. Yaacob and Shu came to help. At first, we just chilled, and waited for the organiser, Jebb to get the ball rolling on the 'Tong Yuen' making process.
Finally, she gathered all of us at the dining table, and took out the flour and the fillings [i.e. red bean paste, sugar pieces and ground nuts]. We started rolling small pieces of flour into balls and pressed the filling in it.
After making enough tiny flour balls, we then started to cook them. Mom already made the sugar water with ginger. All we needed to do was to boil the balls in hot water til they float, then transfer them to the big pot of boiling sugar + ginger water.
Finally, all the flour balls were cooked and ready to be eaten. Aren't they pretty? So colorful and yummy looking :)
