When movies like Transformers are made, I feel really excited. Coz when I was a kid, I used to watch the cartoon. And now, Hollywood is able to make it into a real live action movie. The special effects and realness of the movie really blew me away. And it brings me down memory lane to when I was just a little girl.
Aaaahhh, life back then was so simple. All I needed to worry about was homework, exams and catching my favorite cartoons. I loved watching cartoons when I was a child. I still do. I remember watching He-Man, Smurfs [la la la la la la, la la la la la], Jem [super cool cartoon. I love the fact that Jessica was able to transform into Jem just by touching her star earring], She-Ra, My Little Pony and Friends, Carebears, Thunder Cats and the list goes on to include the Disney cartoons, etc. Never in my wildest imagination that I expected these cartoons to be made into movies some 20 years later. Simply amazing!!
Even Barbie has her own animated cartoons. I used to love playing with my Barbie dolls. My mom bought me my first Barbie when Barbie was first introduced to the world. Mine was the first original Barbie, very fair with long blond hair. Then, I had 5 more dolls, a lot of clothes for them and packs like Barbie picnic pack, Barbie party pack where there were furniture, lil plates and cups and food. I loved playing with my Barbies so much I'd demand for a Barbie or a new pack whenever I scored good results in my exams as my reward. I don't have a single Barbie left now. My sisters managed to kill them off by decapitating them or tearing their limbs apart [sob! Sob! My sisters are quite d ganas...] when they inherited my precious dolls. Come to think of it, I wonder where all my masak-masak plates and pots and pans went and where my tea set went. Hmmm... I had such happy times playing with my toys back then.
I remember playing with slimy gooey green stuff [inspired by Slimer] when the cartoon Ghostbusters was popular. Lotsa of Ghostbusters toys were available for kids like me to pester our parents to buy for us. I played with Play-Doh too. And Lego. Oh, those were the days. I think my childhood beats the ones kids now have. They don't know anything about Legos and don't even wanna know anything about them. Kids nowadays are too busy going online, playing computer games, chit-chatting on MSN, etc. They won't know games like 'Getah', Galah Panjang', 'Ting Ting' [Hopscotch], 'Batu Seremban', Bottle Caps', 'Conquer', etc. They are too high tech to know about those games I used to play. Don't know whether it's a good or bad thing.
Sometimes I wish I can go back to being a child again. Life was so much easier and simpler. Sigh...
Oh well, I guess I gotta wait for the Thunder Cats movie to come out for another excuse to get reacquainted with my childhood memories again. I wonder if there are any Smurfs, Care Bears, Jem or He-Man movies in the making...
