The quest for the perfect pair of 'Un-Ah-Lian' leggings

Ok, I admit, when leggings were first introduced back into the fashion scene, I was absolutely horrified. The first thought that came to mind was "So Ah-Lian!!"...

But, after poring over fashion mags and checking out various fashion websites [I happen to like keeping myself updated on the latest fashion news] for a few months, I noticed that the 'leggings-phenomenon' simply won't go away. It remained stubbornly in most of the mags. A lot of celebs were spotted in them. What gives??

As I grew accustomed of seeing them splashed all over the fashion pages, the teeny-weeny niggling feeling of accepting them began to grow. Coz, after a while, I came to realise that they do come in handy when you wanna pair them with one of those oversized blouses or printed tees with a pair of flat pumps, then clinch a belt around the waist for a casual day look. The more I saw the various outfts that can be matched with a pair of basic black leggings [no patterns, laces, anything at all on them, just plain black ones], the more I felt like getting a pair. Then, the thought of me being too skinny to wear leggings sank in. In my mind, the sight of my legs hobbling around like a pair of chopsticks in skin-tight leggings was quite horrible. Urgh...

After some studying [on fashion mags and websites and observing people on the streets and in malls] and a lot of thought, I came to the conclusion that, to avoid looking like an 'ah lian' [which is my worst fear], it really depends on how you match your entire outfit with a pair of leggings. The leggings itself hafta be 'ah-lian'-free of coz. Then, the top, shoes and accessories you match it with are really important to ensure you look chic [like the models in vogue and the celebs in the 'Fashion-Do' pages] and not end up looking like you assembled your outfit based on a Sungei Wang catalogue. Trust me, you've gotta have stylish taste in order to pull it off to turn heads [not in a bad way, more of like in a 'ooh-she-looks-so-chic' way].

So, I've decided to get myself a pair of nice leggings and experiment with it by mixing and matching my tops and accessories to get the right assemble. I searched for the perfect pair, but in my desperation to get one immediately, I found a pair which was the plainest but still it had laces on it [which Evonne is helping me remove]. I am still on the lookout for the perfect pair. And, when I find it, I will risk looking like I replaced my legs with a pair of chopsticks when I decide which assemble of tops and accessories to match it with that is 'un-ah-lian' :P

Fingers crossed... Wish me luck!!
