"Sexy Black"

Yup, that's the theme for my department's annual dinner last year. I was compiling the pics from my colleagues and the photographer that's why it took me this long to blog about this.

The dinner was held on 14 December 2007 at Velvet. Yup, you got it right. At Velvet. Haha... I know it's quite out of the norm to hold a company's annual dinner at a club, but... what the heck!! We're the marketing dept anyways, so let's all let our hair down and have a seriously good, fun and piss drunk night!! It sure beats having it at some stuffy hotel ballroom where you sit down to a boring 9 course dinner...

As one of the organizing committee members of the event, I hadta get to the venue early to make sure everything's properly set up. YY and I went to do our hair right after lunch, then we drove down to Hotel Maya to put our stuff in the room [all of us decided to chip in and have a room there to store our stuff, shower and get ready]. From what I heard from Chriz & Elaine who got there earlier to check in, Alan managed to get himself stuck at the emergency staircases twice when he was trying to 'explore' the hotel. Elaine saved him the first time and Chriz rescued him the second time. All that happened before YY and I got there. Hmmm... Okaaay... I really have some interesting characters as colleagues :) What can I say... They make my days at work more eventful with their antics, accident/drama-prone behaviours and jokes.

So, after we put our stuff at the room, Chriz drove us to Velvet [which was just across the road :P] to meet the marketing exec, Matthias, to arrange for the set up of the registration table, the backdrop and stage for pic-taking and to prepare the goodie-bags. I went into the club and realised that the workers were still working on the deco and the whole place was a mess. Gawd, let's hope they're efficient enough to get everything in order on time.

While waiting for our "Sexy Black" backdrop to be set-up, YY and I wandered around and cam-whored... Chriz came to join us shortly after...

Then, after all the goodie-bags were done, registration table ready and backdrop set up, we sat at the Terrace Bar to chill while waiting for the registration people to get ready at the room. There's so many of us using the room, we hadta go in batches. The registration people got to use the room first coz they need to standby at the table early to receive the guests.

YY and I wasted no time and ordered lychee martinis since our boss was kind enough [he was forced to actually :P] to buy us all drinks...

After the first batch got ready, it was our turn to go to the room to shower and get ourselves presentable for the event. When I got back to Velvet, quite a lot of people were there already. We wasted time and started taking pics like crayzee... Some Heineken event was going on at Zouk so we invaded their backdrop to take pics as well...

But nothing beats OUR backdrop. I really love it. The hot guy and girl as the backdrop and the pole. The pole was really popular that night. We could see our bosses and a lot more other people in action, showing off their pole-worthy poses...

All of us naik the stage and hogged it like we're never taken pics in our entire lives. Snap snap snap, went the cameras and flash. There was so many cameras I didn't know which one to look at... Ray Mak!! He must be a closet-poser. He stood behind us and managed to unbutton his shirt and show off his chest then button his shirt back for 1 pic [check out the pic at the bottom right below]. That's like super-fast... Didn't know why he did that. Didn't even know he was doing that til we look at the pics...

ADL boleh!! Go Ray Mak & David Man!!

We kicked off the dinner with performances from various divisions. We were inspired by the Hong Kong show 'Minutes to Fame' and gave the 3 judges 3 bells. The performer who lasted longest on stage will win a prize... Cruel, I know...

After a few round of lucky draws, we decided to name the best dressed male and female of the night. Here are the nominated ones and they each hadta dance to convince us to vote for them... In the end Julia from HR and my 'ahem' boss won...

For the whole night, I was on my feet, walking around, helping out the best I can to make the whole event run smoothly. I didn't get to eat and I didn't even drink. By the end of the night, I was starving and dehydrated. But, it was all worth it coz we had good fun!! My boss won a couple of really really lucrative prizes so, I was scheming on how to rob him... Ahahaha....

Yaacob came to join me after the annual dinner officially ended and the public were allowed in. We partied for a while longer then left. Everyone was dead tired, famished and thirsty...

We did such a good job our big big boss now wants us to plan his birthday bash... Uh-oh...!!!
