Yay... I feel like skipping all around the place and yelling 'Weeeee'... I feel like twirling around and around til I see stars...
Why?
Coz I finally found the perfect dress to wear to Yaacob's annual dinner. It's really perfecto!!
Yesterday was crazy. I practically dashed around the whole day like a headless chicken. The fact that I made the painful mistake of wearing my killer 'dunno-how-many-inches' heels didn't help in making my day better :(
In the morning, I was dashing all over 24th floor, looking for the stupid meeting room for a brand ID meeting I was supposed to attend. Won't get into details. Was just running all over the foreign 24th floor like a mad-woman trying to locate the room. Dunno wad kinda impression I have on my 24th floor colleagues [I dunno any of them. I think they're the HR dept or finance... dunno... I'm quite ignorant about this, I'm told... Ignorant in the sense that I dunno anybody be it our big boss, VIP or whoever that's outta my own circle, my own department :P].
Then, during the last part of the meeting, I got a call from Susie, asking me to remove my car coz it's blocking hers and she wanted to go out. Hadta run down the stairs to my office, grab my keys, then stuff myself into the lift to get to the basement to move my car *Pant* Pant*
After work, drove to Bangsar to hunt for a dress for Yaacob's annual dinner. Got a parking spot almost immediately [:P happeee... I always have a hard time getting a spot.. So lucky!!]. It was raining and I didn't have an umbrella. Walked all over the place in search of a fab dress. I went to a total of 6 boutiques [Mooie, Cats Whiskers, Little Black Book, My Dress Room, Oopsie Daisy and Gossips], tottling in the rain on my killer heels trying not to accidentally trip and topple over in the middle of the road [which, in my case, is VERY likely to happen] intent on finding the 'right' dress. Just when I was about to give up, [all 6 shops were a disappointment. They had great clothes but just not suitable for a glam event *pout*], Yaacob called. He finally got off work. We met up at Sam's shop, Tres Chic [why didn't I think of going there first??!! Silly me!!].
Sam was such a dear. Running all over her shop, trying to help me find a dress. She gave me lots to try on. The first dress I tried on was a white number, glittery and body-hugging. I stepped outta the fitting room to show them.
Yaacob: "Urm... [inspects me thoroughly] Do you feel like a mermaid?"
I looked at him. HUH? Mermaid?? I looked down. The dress wasn't even long and it definitely wasn't a mermaid-cut kinda dress. What the... ???
Okaaay, maybe men dunno how to appreciate women's fashion. I confirmed this fact when I overheard him asking Sam whether she has any normal dresses with the hems straight and not with '1-side-long and 1-side-short'... *Blink* *Blink*.... Ahahaahahahahaa...
After trying on a lot of dresses, I was about to give up when Sam handed me this long pale blue dress and asked me to try it on just to 'humor' her. She showed me the dress when I first walked into the shop. It was on display on a mannequin. I didn't really think much of it because if its length and it's elaborate design. Very OTT. I dun wanna be over-dressed at the dinner. Also, I had in mind a black dress. So, the color didn't really draw my fancy.
Buuut....
After I put it on... The effect was like.. Wow!! I breathed out slowly, turning around in front of the mirror, gaping at my own reflection. The dress was stunning. It hugged at my body, making me look 'right' at all the 'right' places. The parts that needed to look big seemed bigger and the parts that needed to look small indeed looked small. Gosh... It's beautiful. It's 'perfect'.
I walked outta the room and when I saw Yaacob's expression, I knew this was 'the' dress.
Sam steamed the dress nicely for me and after paying for it, Yaacob and I walked to La Bodega to enjoy a nice dinner. Nothing beats a nice meal after a long, tiring day, made even more exhausting by the hunt for dresses. Find a dress isn't easy [as Yaacob discovered last night] and trying on numerous dresses in the quest of getting the 'right' one certainly ain't a piece of cake.
I'm so very glad I found the dress. Really really glad. It's like the ordeal of 'finding-the-right-dress' is finally over!!! Yippeee.... :D
