Happy Belated Birthday Evonne!!

Just now we celebrated Evonne's belated birthday by buying her lunch at a japanese restaurant at Pavilion. As her [sort of] immediate superior, I got out of the office earlier, at 12pm, with Alice to buy her a cake from Secret Recipe.

When we got there, Alice and I decided we want to buy different pieces of cakes and arrange the pieces in a circle to sort of form a cake. I think this is a great idea coz then everyone get to eat whichever type of cake they fancy. Coz not everyone likes chocolate cake, some might like cheesecake, some might like something else. So with this arrangement, we would be able to please everybody. But when I stated this request to the guy behind the counter, he looked at me with so much displeasure I was surprised he didn't throw a fit and ask me to get out of there [how rude, right? I mean, I am a customer and he should adopt a more pleasant attitude towards me no matter what my request is, and not give me a look as if I just suggested something really stupid and infuriating to him]. Then, after he arranged 6 different types of cakes [2 pieces each type] into a circle, I asked him whether he could write with icing "Happy Birthday" on the cake. He looked at if he was ready to punch me. He pulled out a drawer from the counter and took out a plastic "Happy Birthday" sign, which he stuck on the cake.

Me: [whispered to Alice] "I want to ask him to write 'Evonne' on the cake."

Alice: [whispered back] "Better not. He will really punch you. Look at how black his face is."

Me: [sighed] "Ok."

We paid for the cake, then dashed out of the place. We walked to Pavilion to meet the others. After ordering our food [which took a long time. We're quite an indecisive bunch sometimes], the conversation steered towards the supernatural and what we should do when checking into hotel rooms to avoid being haunted:

Evonne: "OMG. I was reading Female mag the other day and this real life article was in there. It's about an old lady who was up at Genting gaming. She got tired and went back into her room alone to sleep. At about 3am, she woke up and realised her friends were still not back yet. She tried calling their phones but no answer. The next morning, she asked her friends what time they returned to the room. They said they got back at 1am. They did not hear her calls but when they checked their phones, there were indeed missed calls from her. Means they were all in the same room but she cannot see her friends. Must be coz the ghost was playing tricks on her eyes. So spooky."

Alan: "Aiya, my friend also kena. His whole family went to Penang for a holiday. They saw their bags being thrown from one end of the room to the other. They thought if they didn't disturb the 'thing' there they'll be fine. So they went out for lunch. When they got back, their bags were open and their clothes were strewn all over the room."

Alice: "Hmm... I always ring the door bell and knock before I enter any hotel room just to give respect to those 'things'. Have to tell them we are going to stay in the room."

Evonne: "When I go into a hotel room, the first thing I'd do is rap on the tables in the room."

Carol: "I'd ring the doorbell, knock, ask for permission to stay, then go in and stamp my feet."

Elaine: "I don't do any of that."

Me: "Same here. I don't do anything like that as well."

What a topic to talk about during a birthday lunch {:O

YY, Tinki and Matthias were late. They were at KLCC for an event. We waited for them for a long long time. By the time they got there, we already finished our food.

**********

At about close to 5pm, Chriz started making noise, wanting Evonne to cut the cake because she was hungry. She got everyone to assemble at Evonne's desk, helped her light the candles and scolded whoever who wanted to take pictures of the cake because they were stalling the cake cutting.

I was taking a picture with Evonne when Chriz started singing the birthday song at top speed. By the time the picture was taken, she was finished with the song and was rushing Evonne to cut the cake. The we heard someone say loudly:

Alice: "Oi, why you guys didn't call me when Evonne is cutting the cake??!!"

Everyone: "Ok, ok, we sing the birthday song one more time, ok?"

So we proceeded to sing Evonne the song once more, then made her pretend to blow the candles [the candles were already taken off the cake] and cut the cake so that everyone can take pictures. Chriz took the knife and began cutting the cake into small slices. By the time she finished cutting the cake and eating whatever cake left on the knife, she announced she's full and went back happily to her desk to continue her work [apa la!!].

Yea, another half an hour more and I'll be off from work [wondering why I'm blogging in the middle of the day? Yes, I have work to do, I'm just taking a short break now, k? :P]. Gotta go home and get ready to go for JP's birthday bash at 789 tonight. So many people having birthdays this month. My sister, JP, Evonne and dunno who else. I've got so many notifications from Friendster and Facebook announcing this person's birthday's today and that person's birthday is coming. Wa... October ~ The month of many birthdays...

Ok, here's my shoutout to all the October babies out there:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, OCTOBER BABIES!!
HAVE A GREAT ONE!!
