Dong Dong Chiang! Gong Xi Fa Chai!!

Ooohh... CNY is just around the corner! Am gonna stuff myself silly with all the cookies and goodies ;) Let's hope I gain a few kilos by all the snacking *fingers crossed*

I've good good news galore! The happiest and most exciting one will be sweet Alison's engagement. I'm so happy for her!! Her bf and her have been together for ages, and despite the distance [she's in KL while he's in Sydney], they manage to keep their relationship alive, and they are so sweet together. Now, they're engaged to be married. Can't wait to hear the full details of the proposal tomorrow when I meet Alison for dinner. I'm always amazed by how creative some guys are with their proposals. Where do they get all these ideas??!! Hmmm... Well I guess when you're so in love, all the creativity just comes to you when it comes to the business of getting the girl to say 'Yes'. Hahaha...

Another good news is, I'm so happy I am getting progress, even though slow progress, on my 'plans'. And there are a few opportunities knocking at my door at the moment. Am quite flattered and excited at the same time. Am working hard to ensure I don't miss any and will make the most of it. I'm not one to waste away good opportunities. Might never know when I'll be lucky to get any again in the future. So, wish me luck and hopefully things will work out great ;)

CNY is just around the corner. Am going to my aunt's place in T.A. to celebrate with my family. Happy! Happy! Love going back to T.A. Good food. The house's great. The baby's gonna be there this year. Hopefully, I'll be able to carry him around this time without him bawling. Games of 'rummy' with my cousin and sis. Ang paus! Yes, all the ang paus to receive from my relatives. Hahaahaha... $$$, here I come!!

Am really counting my blessings and feeling grateful for all the good things in my life. I feel truly blessed sometimes. Will work hard to make sure I earn all these instead of just taking it all for granted.

Gong Xi Fa Chai, everyone!
Have a Happy Blessed Chinese New Year!!

Bestie's Belated Birthday Celebration @ WIP

Had belated birthday dinner with bestie the day after her birthday at WIP, BSC. She shares the same birthday as my lil nephew, and due to family obligations, couldn't celebrated with her on the actual day.

Joanne was a dear and spent the afternoon looking for a nice lil cake for Lil J. Come 7.30pm, I drove the girls to BSC for dinner.

The night started really good. Joanne, thoughtful as always, brought along her polaroid camera to snap precious moments during dinner for bestie to keep. Had great food, great conversations. It was truly a good girls night out.

Then...

The incident happened. Which spoiled the night for bestie. Even though she didn't say anything about it, I can tell by her eyes. And how she wasn't really smiling from her heart when we took pics of her opening her pressies and blowing the candle off her cake. Sigh... Wish it didn't happen but it did. I believe sometimes things like this happen for a reason and there's really nothing we can do about it. Anyways, it can be fixed. Or replaced. But I know how she musta felt. I'd be damn pissed off and sakit hati too!!

And to top off the uncomfy-ness, one of the pressies I bought her, the highlight of all my pressies, is something she already has... :(

Oh well, at least she likes the earrings...

Hopefully, any untoward incidents end on that night and this year brings her joy and all that she wishes for...

Bf's last weekend in KL

He was back for a month and now he's gone again. Back to Brunei for work :'(

Went to KL Life to party during his last weekend in KL...
Surprisingly, I was drinking whiskey almost the whole night and I didn't gag or feel like throwing up, which I usually do whenever I catch even a whiff of this particular liquor. Hmmm... Reason why I was having whiskey was coz vodka was not available. And after many many glasses, surprisingly, I was not drunk. Turned red, yes, a wee bit tipsy, yes, but not drunk. Strange...

Had quite an ok night. I was missing him already the moment I got outta his car at the end of the night. Wish he'll be back soon!!

He Turns 1!

Lil nephew Ver Ron turns 1 last week. Time really flies. Seems like only yesterday we celebrated his arrival into the world at the hospital. In a blink of an eye, he's already 1 years old.

He's growing up to be a very good-looking lil boy. But a bit too manja. Cries at almost everything. Hmmm... Hopefully he'll toughen up when he's a bit older.

The family had dinner at Tai Thong then proceeded back home to cut the cake. I downed the entire glass of cheap red wine at the restaurant and turned bright red [as can be seen in the pics]. Still managed to cam-whore a bit with cousin and lil sis before rushing to get ready to party :P

Penang Weekend!!

Drove up to Penang for the weekend. We stayed at Eastin Hotel, which is located near the bridge and walking distance from Queensbay Mall.

The mall was HUGE. Walked in it a bit then headed out for some yummy Penang food. We wanted to go to McAlister Road for the famous Char Kuey Tiew but the GPS wasn't working properly coz it couldn't get reception inside Loo's car. We sesat for a while but managed to find the place in the end, thanks to the human GPS, Lam Wai Ming.

I had Ais Kacang, fried oysters and shared Assam Laksa and Char Kuey Tiew with Yaacob. Everyone was quite full but for me it was not enough. I love Penang food and was eager for more!
Went back to the hotel to rest before dinner. Lam held sorta like a briefing session for all of us to run through the evening's plan.

Lam: "Ok everybody, dinner is at 7pm, we come back to the hotel to change and get ready at 9pm and then, go party at 10pm."
After that he hadta repeat himself coz Yaacob wasn't listening and Jessie wasn't there. So he repeated the entire thing with Jessie on the phone and Yaacob beside him *LOL*

This is us, right before we stepped outta the room to meet the others in the lobby for dinner. This is our 2nd Penang trip. I think we should come to Penang more often coz I really love the local food.
Dinner was at Teluk Kumbar. Quite far from the hotel. It's like Jimbaran in Bali, where you dine at the beach with sand at your feet. Only, the beach at Jimbaran was bigger, wider and nicer. The view of the sunset during dinner was breathtaking! Check out the pic below...
We went to AutoCity Juru at the mainland to party. Had great fun. It was Loo's birthday so everybody made him drink lots. At the end of the night, he was drunk. I think everyone had a great time, had a bit too much to drink, so, was a bit tipsy towards the end. The party ended at 2am, which was a bit too early for us. So we went to a club nearby for after-party before heading back to the hotel.
Woke up at about 11am the next day. Missed breakfast :( Luckily, I didn't have a hangover. Everybody else was still sleeping, so our plans to have Nasi Kandar and the power steamed fish that Lam was talking about tak jadi. Hmmm... Maybe next time. Checked out then headed back to KL.

Our 3rd Anniversary Celebration

For our anniversary this year, we decided to stay in and have a home-cooked dinner instead of the usual 'going-out-for-dinner-at-a-fancy-place'.

Since Yaacob has never cooked for me [except for Maggi Mee, which doesn't count!] in the 3 years that we're together, it means so much more to me that we prepare the meal together.

With some help [ok, actually a LOT of help] from his parents, who are both excellent at cooking, we had a fantastic time getting the food ready.

We had mushroom soup, salad with thousand island dressing made by Yaacob's mom, mashed potatoes, steamed vegetables, steak with brown sauce [also made by Yaacob's mom] & ice cream for dessert.

My contribution? The 2 pints of Baskin Robbins ice cream and the salad. I helped cut, wash and prepare the vegetables. Yaacob helped make the soup and he sorta helped cook the steak as well.

After dinner, we watched 'The Time Traveller's Wife' on DVD while enjoying soft-baked chewy chocolate chip cookies and milk. The movie is very touching. I cried at the end of the movie coz the ending was so sad :( Now I feel like getting the book to see which is better, the book or the movie. I like comparing stuff like this :P

I really enjoyed myself. This beats going out for dinner anytime. I have a great time in the kitchen getting the food ready, I enjoyed having dinner with his family and stayin in for quality time with him.

For 2010...

For 2010, I am not gonna make a long list of resolutions. I just wanna set out and do wad I've always wanted to do and give myself this year to make it happen. If it doesn't, hey, at least I tried to follow my heart and my dreams and gave it my 100%!

I also strive to be healthier. Lead a healthier lifestyle. Exercise more. Eat more. Gain weight. Sick of always being told I'm skinny. Hello! This is my body! I have a mirror at home. Even if I don't, of coz I know I've lost weight coz the clothes that used to fit me well are now loose. I'm also trying hard to gain weight. I'm also stressed coz of this. So, zip it! I WILL try to gain more weight. Not because of anyone, coz of myself. So, leave me alone and don't tell me things I already know i.e. "You lost weight! You should eat more."
Duh... Like I don't realise that and like I'm not planning to do anything about it.

So yea, it's a pretty short list. But, then again, why make a long long list of resolutions that you'll only lose track of and forget and end up not achieving any? Just make a few that you really wanna achieve so you can focus and go all out and work towards it. That's wad I'm gonna do!
